{"id":3594,"date":"2023-09-06T21:12:04","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T21:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mahuru-maori-twoa-ac-nz.azurewebsites.net\/?p=3594"},"modified":"2023-09-06T21:12:45","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T21:12:45","slug":"mahuru-maori-challenge-aligned-with-maramataka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mahuru-maori-twoa-ac-nz.azurewebsites.net\/mao\/mahuru-maori-challenge-aligned-with-maramataka\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahuru M\u0101ori challenge aligned with maramataka"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"3594\" class=\"elementor elementor-3594\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-da5750b elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"da5750b\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-313f9d1\" data-id=\"313f9d1\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a09106 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1a09106\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Mahuru M\u0101ori\u00a0challenge\u00a0is just around the corner, but what does this mean and who can get involved?<\/p><p>Renowned M\u0101ori leader and reo M\u0101ori advocate, Paraone Gloyne pioneered Mahuru M\u0101ori in 2014, as a social experiment to promote broadcasting te reo M\u0101ori and normalising te reo M\u0101ori in everyday dealings.<\/p><p>The idea of the challenge was to consciously use as much te reo M\u0101ori as possible during the month of Mahuru \u2013 the fourth lunar month of the maramataka (M\u0101ori lunar calendar), approximately equivalent to September.<\/p><p>Proudly promoted by Te W\u0101nanga o Aotearoa, Mahuru M\u0101ori has become an annual challenge, and last year saw around 15,000 registered participants take part.<\/p><p>Following the maramataka, this year\u2019s Mahuru M\u0101ori challenge will begin on\u00a0<strong>Friday, 15 September <\/strong>and finish on<strong> Saturday, 14 October<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Participation in the challenge is not exclusive to fluent te reo M\u0101ori speakers;
