It came to be built in Panguru at the insistence of the local people and because of their determination to provide accessible secondary education for their children. Previous to this, those families who could afford it sent their sons to Hato Petera (Auckland) and their daughters to St Josephs (Napier) for secondary schooling.
The schools name was formally gazzetted as Te Kura Taumata o Panguru in 1994, in keeping with the nature of the school, whose roll has always been almost 100% maori. It is also predominantly Catholic, which helps to explain the Religious presence that contributes to the culture of our school.

As is common in most rural schools, our roll fluctuates from year to year but currently sits between 80-100 students. We are fortunate to be supported by highly experienced leaders in our Principal Mina Pomare-Peita, Leaders of Learning and passionate teaching and support staff who enable a consistent delivery of quality teaching and learning at our school.

View the event details here.

Te Kura Taumata o Panguru are celebrating Mahuru Māori all month with a specific event on Rāhina 14 o Māhuru, 2020 featuring Ako, Pānui, Kōrero, Whakarongo, Waiata, Taonga Tākaro, whānau wero and more.

[6
25
post-1159","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-kaupapa-whakatairanga-events","tag-kura-schools
["GET
